Bull Shark Diving in Playa del Carmen

Bull shark diving is one of Playa del Carmen's most seasonal certified-diver experiences. It usually runs from November to March, depending on the year, sea conditions and safety decisions on the day.

What to Know Before You Book

This is not a beginner try-dive. Bull shark diving is for certified divers, and the final decision always depends on conditions, diver comfort and the safety call from the team.

The dive site is close to the beach, with a planned descent to the sandy bottom and a detailed safety briefing before entering the water. The maximum depth listed for this experience is about 24 meters / 72 feet.

If you are visiting Playa del Carmen during the season, it is worth checking availability before planning the rest of your dive schedule. Conditions can change, and shark sightings are never something a responsible dive operation should promise as guaranteed.

Bull Shark Diving FAQ

The usual season is November to March, but exact timing can vary each year. Always confirm current availability before booking around it.

Yes. This is a certified-diver experience, not a Discover Scuba Diving activity, and the minimum age is 15 years old. If you are unsure whether your level fits, ask before booking.

No wildlife encounter can be guaranteed. The team can explain what the season is like and what the current conditions have been.

Confirm the season, certification requirements, meeting point, equipment, current conditions and whether the dive is running on your travel dates.

Bring swimwear, a towel, dry clothes, proof of certification, recent dive information if available, and cash for any local donation or marine park fee due before boarding.

Responsible shark tourism can give local communities an economic reason to value and protect sharks. The goal is to show divers these animals with respect, not turn the experience into a circus.
